Sorry, BR - I didn't see your correct answer, since I was out on vacation. Here's a new question:
The Rose & Crown features what brand of beer? A) Beck's B) Bass C) Bud Lite D) Coors |
|||
ghost1000 |

I think it's either Beck's or Bass, but I'd rather leave it for Doug to answer. Bud Light and Coors are American beers.

The correct answer is Bass (although it would not surprise me if they sold Guiness).
Next question: What attraction listed below does NOT offer FastPass? A) Honey, I Shrunk the Audience B) The Great Movie Ride C) Rock N' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith D) Maelstrom |

I got this wrong when we were at Typhoon Lagoon. I guessed it was Maelstrom, and that was a wrong guess. So I'll guess now that it's Honey, I Shrunk
the Audience.

Next Question: In 1982, Spaceship Earth was advertised as a glistening geosphere which reaches a height surpassing that of..." what other structure at the Walt Disney World Resort? A) Big Thunder Mountain B) Cinderella Castle C) Space Mountain D) The Contemporary Resort |
|||
PirateHaunter |
|||
|
Let's see. At 54.9 meters, the pentakis dodecahedron of Spaceship Earth dwarfs Big Thunder Mountain (34.7 m), but it does not reach the height of either WDW Space Mountain (55.8 m) or Cinderella Castle (57.6 m) let alone the 56.08-meter height of the Contemporary Resort. That would make the only logical answer A) Big Thunder Mountain. By the way, a pentakis dodecahedron was the shape of the first atomic bomb dentonated at Los Alamos in 1945, perhaps showing how Disney can transform the meaning of geometric shapes into something more peaceful. |

The correct answer is The Contemporary Resort.
Spaceship Earth is listed as 18 stories high; the Contemporary is only 15 or 16. Space Mtn is 180-183 feet high (I found two different numbers on The Hub); BTMRR is listed at 97 feet (but I don't think it was there in 1982 anyway). I couldn't get info on the castle, but i think Rita know that answer. Queston & answer is from the 2005 Goofy's Mystery Tour Trivia; this trivia competition is held annually for the company's cast members and their friends. The reference for thsi question is listed as "Walt Disney World Epcot Center - 1982."

I think Cinderella Castle is 189 feet tall.

Wait! According to this site, Contemporary Resort is exactly 56.08
meters (184 feet), and according to Wikipedia entry on Spaceship Earth, the sphere is only
180 feet!
I think someone calculated one story as 10 feet (18 stories for Spaceship Earth?) and compared this to the 15 stories of the resort. But, in this case, that doesn't work. The resort is in fact taller. BTW, can anyone guess the maximum height allowable for a building in WDW? |

PirateHaunter wrote:No building can be built over 200 feet. Not exactly a building but Mickey's wand that stood for several years next to Spaceship Earth eclipsed 200 feet, thereby requiring the installation of a red flashing warning light on top. |

Expedition Everest is 199 feet and 6 inches high, making that the tallest Disney mountain.
